Description
Chitwan National Park (932 sq km) is the most popular safari destination in Nepal. It is listed as Natural World Heritage Site. The park covers a unique ecosystem, containing hills, ox-bow lakes and flood plains. Dominated by Sal forest, it has 50 species of grasses. More than 43 species of animals are found in park that includes the endangered one-homed rhino, Royal Bengal tiger, Gharial crocodile, four-horned antelope, striped hyena, and the Gangetic dolphin and 450 species of birds. The best part is that it is close to Kathmandu and easily accessible (only 165 km by overland), and Bharatpur airport adjoining the park is a just 25-minute flight away (there are daily flights from Kathmandu). Many adventurers also choose to go down by raft.
Itinerary
Day 02: Departure to Chitwan National Park, meeting upon arrival with resort manager at the bus station or at Bharatpur Airport. Transfer to the resort. Refreshment drink and briefing about the accommodation and the facilities. After lunch our manager will brief you about the program of the following days. After a short rest, visit to the Tharu village and the National Park Visitors Center. Sunset view from the riverbank. Dinner. Slide-show on the wildlife.
Day 03: Dugout canoe trip followed by a Nature Walk Program or a visit to the Elephant Breeding Farm. Enjoy an ox-cart ride or a jeep drive back to the resort. After a refreshment you can wash the elephants and swim with them in the Rapti River. Lunch. Elephant back safari. Dinner. Tharu dancing performance.
Day 04: After tea or coffee you will go for a bird watching tour. B/F. Transfer to the bus station or the Bharatpur Airport. Arrive in Kathmandu and transfer to hotel. Leisure.
Day 05: After breakfast we will drive you at Patan Durbar Square and Bhkatapur Durbar Square for your day excursion. Return to hotel and rest.
Day 06: Departure to your onward destination.
